Kitchener, Ontario, CANADA – March 28, 2011 - - Roadtrek Motorhomes Inc. is pleased to announce that its class B motorhomes are the most popular among Canadian consumers. While Pleasure-Way had the most registrations in Canada in 2010, it falls to second place when sales to rental companies are excluded.
According to Statistical Surveys Inc., 50.8% of Pleasure-Way’s registrations occurred in the month of May alone when rental units typically go into service for the season in Canada (and many of these rentals are sold in the U.S. after they are taken out of rental service). By comparison, Roadtrek had a more normal 13.7% of its registrations in May. In fact, for the other 11 months of the year, Roadtrek’s market share was 53.3% and Pleasure-Way’s was 38.2%. This split is much more in keeping with Roadtrek’s and Pleasure-Way’s shares in the U.S. for 2010 at 43.7% and 22.9%, respectively.
“We have decided to not heavily discount our product to get a higher share of the rental business in Canada. Our products’ popularity among both Canadian and American consumer is testament to our superior combination of product design, quality, price and service,” stated Roadtrek Chairman Jeff Hanemaayer.
